Association ORIGINAL, the RRO from Bosnia and Herzegovina, has made its first distribution of revenues for authors and publishers from the collected funds for 2018-2019. In two years of operations as a RRO, ORIGINAL fulfilled the conditions for its a first distribution, an admirable achievement. In total, 13,139 authors and 1,686 publishers whose works were published in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period 2013-2017 participated in the distribution. The distribution was performed in accordance with the legislation of the country and the distribution rules issued by Original in 2018. More information (in Bosnian) can be found here. 

Association ORIGINAL for the realization and protection of reproduction rights was founded in 2016 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In November 2017 Original obtained the license for the collective management of rights to private and other internal use. The scope of license is the collective management of rights of authors of written works issued in printed form and related rights of the publishers of printed editions. Within the mandatory collective management, ORIGINAL collects remuneration for the fee for photocopying works for private and other internal use (operator fee) and the fee for importing devices for photocopying (equipment levy). Association ORIGINAL became a Provisional RRO member of IFRRO in 2018.

The announcement was made at a virtual meeting of IFRRO’s European Group on the 22nd of September. A round of applause from IFRRO’s members welcomed this important development for Bosnian and Herzegovinian authors and publishers. They also congratulated Ms. Lejla Gačanica, ORIGINAL’s Director of the Professional Service, on this important achievement for the present and future of literature in her country.
